Backround
- The Community Development Programme is the registered defensive name of Operation Tetelestai.
- Tetelestai is a Greek word meaning "the perfect performance"
- The Community Development Programme operates under the protection of Operation Tetelestai
- The programme is a ministries driven initiative supporting Reconstruction and Development- bottom up-from grassroots level to corporate businesses and industries.
- When registered in 1994 Operation Tetelestai was treated as a Special Project by the Department of Health and Population Development; the Department of Welfare and had the support of:
- The Department of Economic Affairs & Tourism
- The Department of Manpower
- The Department of Local Government and National Housing
- The Department of Finance
It has the authority to collect contributions .
Some of these National Department names changed since 1994.
- The Department of Social Development registered Operation Tetelestai in terms of the Nonprofit Organisations Act 1997 on 07 June 2001 under registration number 004-299 NPO.
Role Statement
- The Community Development Program(CDP) is a non political, non profit making,non denominational organisation that aims to meet the self identified,social,educational and business needs of communities where ever they live or work through skills training,mentor ship and support services in the participants mother tongue.
- It attempts to set in motion a process of economic and social development for each participating person and community through the combined efforts of the many different initiatives supporting the process of reconstruction and development.
- The CDP achieves is aims though the creation and equi-distribution of wealth within local communities by using participants own
- assets
- resources
- abilities
- consumer buying power
- The CDP facilitates the process by which participant communities identify their own needs or common goals. With the assistance of qualified mentors and trainers, these participants are guided towards economic self-sustainability and financial independence within the geographical area where they live.
